Release Notes — Week of October 19 to October 26, 2026
Agent Swarm 2.5 turns Sessions into one inbox for every agent conversation, gives foreach workflows concurrency caps and failure policies, and lands in ten releases across 164 commits.
Ten releases shipped this week, v2.4.2 through v2.5.4, on 164 commits. The thread: one place to see every conversation your agents have, and workflow primitives that hold up when a fan-out runs thousands of items instead of ten.
Heads up: no API break this week, but three defaults moved. Sessions opens on your own sessions, and everyone else's sits behind the Mine / All toggle (#2347). Slack and chat sessions get their own source sections instead of mixing into the UI list (#2379, #2408). Retention for finished script runs is opt-in, so nothing is deleted until you set it in the environment reference (#2404).
Highlights
Sessions v2: one inbox for agent work
#2329 is the week's largest change at 186 files, and the reason 2.5.0 is a minor bump. Sessions becomes the inbox for agent work: thread groups, Inbox / Done / Later triage, tabs, and a phone layout. Five follow-up PRs landed within three days of it.
- A filter menu with select all, plus a one-time Done backfill for existing sessions (#2367).
- Slack and chat source sections with backfill, so a Telegram thread and a UI session stop competing for the same list (#2408).
- Readable thread group labels and a filter button on the phone layout (#2423).
- A Done session reopens itself when a person steers one of its tasks (#2381).
Docs: Sessions.
Foreach that survives a large fan-out
Any executor can now be a foreach body, not just script nodes (#2314). Set a concurrency cap and a failure policy, and retry a single item instead of the whole batch (#2316). The UI shows per-item outcomes, queue counts and retry history, so a stalled fan-out is visible early (#2317).
Docs: Workflows.
Bitbucket Cloud as a third git host
#2339 adds Bitbucket Cloud next to GitHub and GitLab, with webhooks and environment config, so an agent picks up a pull request on any of the three. Docs: Bitbucket.
RBAC roles and agent-bound tokens
Roles are assignable through the API, including a new read-only viewer role (#2304). Worker tokens can be bound to a single agent (#2099), so a leaked token reaches exactly one worker instead of the fleet. Docs: team collaboration, users API.
Telegram through the Chat SDK
The Telegram adapter became a full conversation surface. Agents send files back to the thread (#2202) and transcribe voice notes (#2206), know who asked and where (#2205), reply to the exact message that asked with a task tag (#2203), and show progress with reactions instead of a stream of text acknowledgements (#2366). Docs: chat-sdk.
Improvements
- Workflows — an
Idempotency-Keyheader on create and trigger, so a retried call does not start a duplicate run (#2380); a run tree endpoint that returns a run and all its children (#2419);fields=slimfor cheap polling (#2418); task filtering byworkflowRunId(#2417); asystem-one-extractionnode on a shared provider registry, with a configurable default (#2290, #2301). - Access, credentials and integrations — a HITL config question type: an agent asks a person for a value or secret, and it is stored without passing through the agent's context (#2374); credential pools accept single-key add and remove, with an instant key check and a re-test when a key changes (#2430, #2422); Codex routes through a gateway via
CODEX_GATEWAY_BASE_URL(#2426); each script run gets its own session token and can read its held secrets (#2349, #2393); Codex OAuth pool slots refresh every five days by default (#2296). - Agent capabilities — audio on Slack and sessions-UI tasks is transcribed automatically (#2309);
skill-searchranks with BM25 and puts name and description hits first (#2361, #2375); long worker sessions get a one-time context-bound note (#2401); extensions gain Slack messages in task-creation hooks, apost.task.blockedevent for rejected task creation, and a comms-adherence gate for agent Slack posts (#2412, #2402, #2360). - UI, pages and comb — comb adds search, share links, audio and HTML preview, uploads, bulk resolve, an In progress home, Recent and Favorites, a file menu, URL search and asset comments (#2406, #2420, #2428); the page catalog gains Tree, CardGrid, Table column formats, NumberInput, a json column kind, and
parentTaskIdwith a$chainsentinel on app actions (#2315, #2319, #2310, #2184, #2292); JSON task output renders as a collapsible tree, prompts are pretty-printed, and an experimental lineage view traces a task chain (#2277, #2373, #2274). - Performance and operations — workers fetch a skills bundle at boot instead of N API calls (#2306); Slack render-v2 watcher queries no longer scan every task (#2286); finished script runs get opt-in retention (#2404); a clean install and
/setupflow for new users (#2405).
Bug Fixes
- Cancelling a workflow run now stops its whole child tree and keeps it stopped (#2377).
- One child run per sub-workflow invocation, across crashes and retries, and no retry when that child run was deleted (#2364, #2433).
- A foreach agent-task item cut by a deploy drain is retried rather than lost (#2370).
- The controller reconnects after a half-open socket, and workers stop claiming tasks during shutdown (#2396, #2395).
- Standalone approval requests post their Slack notifications again (#2356).
- GitLab reads the bot name lazily, cancels every MR task on close, and sets up its credential helper idempotently (#2343, #2372).
- Telegram no longer reads a line that starts with a number sign as a heading, supergroup reply chains reach the gate, and an addressed ask is acknowledged right away (#2323, #2324, #2368).
- Each page gets its own session cookie, so two tabs stop sharing a session (#2311).
- Task completion memories are chunked and embedding inputs capped (#2302).
- The Docker provider removes anonymous volumes on runtime delete, and ffmpeg comes from a digest-pinned image instead of a download (#2390, #2280).
Roughly 47 fixes merged this week. The rest are smaller correctness and rendering repairs across the harnesses and the dashboard: boolean config parsing in the GitHub integration, per-session Claude trust seeding, session log ordering, prompt envelope rendering, session header cost totals.
